- 1 cup warm water (100°F–110°F)
- ¼ cup milk (room temperature)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1½ teaspoons salt
- 3½ cups bread flour
- 2¼ teaspoons instant yeast (bread machine yeast)
Instructions
- Add ingredients to the bread pan in the following order: warm water, milk, softened butter, sugar, salt, bread flour, and finally yeast on top.
- Place the bread pan into the bread machine and select the Basic/White Bread cycle.
- Choose your crust setting (light or medium) and select the loaf size (1.5 lb or 2 lb).
- Press start and allow the bread machine to run the full cycle including kneading, rising, and baking.
- Once baking is complete, carefully remove the bread pan and let the loaf cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, substitute water with all milk.
- Add 1 tablespoon of vital wheat gluten for a higher rise and better texture (optional).
- Store sliced bread in a paper bag or bread box for 3–4 days, or freeze slices for up to 3 months.
- Use a thermometer to check doneness: internal temp should be 190–200°F.
