Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 3 ¾ cups bread flour
- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
Instructions
- Pour the warm water and milk into the bread machine pan.
- Add softened butter, sugar, and salt.
- Add bread flour, making sure to fully cover the liquid.
- Make a small well in the flour and add the instant yeast (keep it dry).
- Select the “Basic,” “White Bread,” or “Sandwich” setting on your bread machine. Choose a light crust if preferred.
- Start the machine. Once the cycle completes, remove the loaf and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
- You can substitute part of the water with milk for a richer loaf.
- For whole wheat variation, use 50% whole wheat and 50% bread flour.
- Add-ins like herbs, cheese, or oats should not exceed ½ cup total to avoid overloading the dough.
- For best slicing, wait at least 1 hour after baking before cutting.
