  • Author: Amelia
  • Total Time: 3 hours 35 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf (12–14 slices) 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

This soft and fluffy sandwich bread is made entirely in a bread machine with simple pantry ingredients. It’s perfect for toast, grilled cheese, and everyday sandwiches. Quick prep, reliable rise, and amazing texture every time!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 ¾ cups bread flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast

Instructions

  1. Pour the warm water and milk into the bread machine pan.
  2. Add softened butter, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add bread flour, making sure to fully cover the liquid.
  4. Make a small well in the flour and add the instant yeast (keep it dry).
  5. Select the “Basic,” “White Bread,” or “Sandwich” setting on your bread machine. Choose a light crust if preferred.
  6. Start the machine. Once the cycle completes, remove the loaf and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • You can substitute part of the water with milk for a richer loaf.
  • For whole wheat variation, use 50% whole wheat and 50% bread flour.
  • Add-ins like herbs, cheese, or oats should not exceed ½ cup total to avoid overloading the dough.
  • For best slicing, wait at least 1 hour after baking before cutting.
