Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • Optional: shredded cheddar, jalapeños, hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers; cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
  2. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it apart, until fully browned (6–8 minutes).
  4. Stir in tomato paste, Cajun seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour in chicken broth, mix well, and reduce heat. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  7. Serve hot on toasted buns with optional toppings like cheese or jalapeños.

Notes

  • Make it less spicy by reducing Cajun seasoning or adding a spoonful of honey.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for 2 months.
  • For vegan option, substitute with lentils or plant-based crumbles.
