Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box white cake mix (or homemade vanilla cake equivalent)
- 1 box (3 oz) flavored Jell-O (e.g., strawberry, cherry, or lime)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 tub whipped topping (Cool Whip or homemade)
- Optional: Fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries)
- Optional: Sprinkles or crushed nuts for topping
Instructions
- Bake the white cake according to package directions in a 9×13-inch pan. Let cool for 20 minutes.
- Using the handle of a wooden spoon or straw, poke holes about 1 inch apart all over the surface of the cake.
- In a medium bowl, dissolve the Jello in 1 cup boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved, then mix in 1/2 cup cold water.
- Slowly pour the Jello mixture over the cake, making sure it fills the holes evenly.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours, or overnight, until the Jello is fully set.
- Spread whipped topping evenly over the top.
- Garnish with fresh fruit, sprinkles, or nuts as desired.
- Slice and serve chilled!
Notes
- For a sugar-free version, use sugar-free Jello and light whipped topping.
- You can experiment with dual-color Jello or layer multiple flavors for a rainbow effect.
- Try using lemon, raspberry, or tropical punch flavors for seasonal variations.
