- 1 lb fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying (canola or vegetable oil)
Instructions
- Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel.
- In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Beat eggs in a second bowl and place panko breadcrumbs in a third.
- Dredge shrimp in the flour mixture, dip into the beaten eggs, and coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- Skewer each shrimp onto bamboo sticks if desired.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry shrimp sticks in small batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- To bake instead of frying, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour and breadcrumbs with gluten-free alternatives.
