Ingredients

  • 4 cube steaks
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp flour (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Season cube steaks with garlic powder and black pepper.
  2. (Optional) Dredge in flour and brown lightly in a skillet for added flavor.
  3. Layer steaks and sliced onions in the crock pot.
  4. In a bowl, mix onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, and beef broth. Pour over meat.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3.5–4 hours, until steaks are tender.
  6. Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • You can swap cream of mushroom for cream of chicken or celery.
  • Add mushrooms or bell peppers for extra depth.
  • If you prefer a thicker gravy, use the flour or stir in a cornstarch slurry near the end of cooking.
