An easy and flavorful smoked cream cheese appetizer seasoned with bold BBQ rubs. Perfect for parties, BBQs, or as a creamy dip. Simple prep, huge flavor!
Ingredients
1 block (8 oz) full-fat cream cheese
1 tbsp olive oil or cooking spray
2 tbsp BBQ rub (or your favorite seasoning blend)
Optional toppings: hot honey, jalapeños, chopped herbs
Instructions
Preheat smoker or grill to 225°F.
Score the top of the cream cheese block in a crosshatch pattern using a knife.
Drizzle with olive oil or spray lightly to help seasoning stick.
Coat all sides generously with BBQ rub or seasoning blend.
Place cream cheese on a foil tray or cast iron skillet.
Smoke uncovered for 2 hours.
Remove from smoker and let rest for 10–15 minutes.
Serve warm with crackers, bread, or fresh veggies.
Notes
You can switch up the rub—try Cajun, Everything Bagel, or taco seasoning.
Add a drizzle of hot honey or crushed bacon for extra flavor.
Make ahead: Chill after smoking and serve later as a cold dip.
For a crispier crust, add more seasoning halfway through the smoke time.
