Description

This Hot Honey Chicken Bowl is a bold, sweet, and spicy dinner recipe featuring crispy chicken glazed in hot honey, served over rice with vibrant vegetables. Perfect for meal prep, family dinners, or weeknight cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white, brown, or cauliflower rice)
  • 1½ cups roasted or sautéed vegetables (broccoli or roasted Brussels sprouts, peppers, sweet potatoes, etc.)
  • Optional toppings: pickled red onions, avocado slices, sesame seeds, fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces. In a bowl, mix chicken with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. While chicken marinates, cook rice and prepare vegetables of choice.
  3. Heat a skillet or air fryer and cook chicken until golden and cooked through (internal temp 165°F).
  4. In a small saucepan, combine honey, apple cider vinegar, red pepper flakes, cayenne (if using), and butter. Heat until just bubbling, then remove from heat.
  5. Toss cooked chicken in the hot honey glaze until evenly coated.
  6. Assemble bowls: Add rice, veggies, glazed chicken, and any optional toppings. Drizzle extra hot honey sauce on top before serving

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, toss chicken in cornstarch before cooking.
  • Adjust spice by using more or less red pepper flakes or cayenne.
  • This recipe can be made ahead and stored for 3–4 days in the fridge.
  • Use tofu or cauliflower instead of chicken for a vegetarian option.
  • Glaze can be stored separately in the fridge for 2 weeks.
