Ingredients
4 lbs beef short ribs (English cut preferred)
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup beef broth or red wine
1 medium onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 sprigs fresh rosemary or thyme
Optional: ½ cup BBQ sauce or soy glaze
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 275°F.
Trim excess fat from the ribs and season generously with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the ribs on all sides until golden brown.
Arrange the seared ribs in a baking dish or roasting pan. Add beef broth or red wine to cover the bottom of the dish. Scatter diced onions, minced garlic, and fresh herbs around the ribs.
Optional: Brush the ribs with BBQ sauce or soy glaze for added flavor.
Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake at 275°F for 3–4 hours, or until the meat is tender and the internal temperature reaches 200°F.
Remove from the oven and let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For faster cooking, you can bake the ribs at 350°F for 2–2.5 hours, though the texture may not be as tender.
Add vegetables like carrots, celery, or potatoes to the dish for a one-pan meal.
Baste the ribs every hour if using a sauce to keep them moist and flavorful.
