This easy and authentic Philly cheesesteak recipe uses tender shaved beef steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and melty provolone cheese for the ultimate sandwich experience.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb shaved ribeye steak (or sirloin)
  • 1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and peppers. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  3. Add shaved beef steak to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook steak until browned and just cooked through, about 2–3 minutes.
  5. Layer provolone cheese over the meat and veggies. Let it melt.
  6. Split and toast the hoagie rolls.
  7. Fill each roll with the cheesy beef mixture. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Substitute provolone with American cheese or Cheez Whiz for different flavor profiles.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms or banana peppers for extra texture and taste.
  • For a spicier version, add a few dashes of hot sauce or red pepper flakes while cooking.
