Ingredients
1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1 cup marinara sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup sliced pepperoni (or halal turkey pepperoni for a Muslim-friendly option)
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
Optional: grated Parmesan, garlic powder, or red pepper flakes
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle (approximately 12×16 inches) on a floured surface.
Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese, followed by the sliced pepperoni and Italian seasoning.
Roll the dough tightly from one short edge to the other, forming a log. Pinch the seams and tuck the edges to seal.
Transfer the log to a parchment-lined baking sheet, seam-side down.
Brush the top with beaten egg and sprinkle with grated Parmesan or garlic powder if desired.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
Allow the stromboli to cool for 5 minutes before slicing into 1-inch pieces.
Serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
Avoid overfilling to prevent leaks during baking.
Customize with different fillings like cooked sausage, vegetables, or other cheeses.
Stromboli can be frozen unbaked or baked. If freezing, adjust the bake time accordingly.
