Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni (or halal turkey pepperoni for a Muslim-friendly option)
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
- Optional: grated Parmesan, garlic powder, or red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle (approximately 12×16 inches) on a floured surface.
- Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese, followed by the sliced pepperoni and Italian seasoning.
- Roll the dough tightly from one short edge to the other, forming a log. Pinch the seams and tuck the edges to seal.
- Transfer the log to a parchment-lined baking sheet, seam-side down.
- Brush the top with beaten egg and sprinkle with grated Parmesan or garlic powder if desired.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Allow the stromboli to cool for 5 minutes before slicing into 1-inch pieces.
- Serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Avoid overfilling to prevent leaks during baking.
- Customize with different fillings like cooked sausage, vegetables, or other cheeses.
- Stromboli can be frozen unbaked or baked. If freezing, adjust the bake time accordingly.
